CAPTIVATED BY MEDIA...?
Yesterday , when I was going through a newspaper , one common thing that I found in every page of it - was some 'BAD NEWS' , enveloped in murder , loot , accidents , scams. etc. etc
Almost 85% of paper was nothing else and yes , dont forget that big advertisement of some iit- jee coaching flaunting its topper's list.
So why its like that.....just because there is more of bad things going around the world ? or in some sense newspaper is responsible for all that.
Now there comes a popping question that 'how is newspaper responsible for all this...?' Well for that you ll have to read further.
Before moving forward lets come to a common point , to which i think, all must be agreeing that these newspapers (TOI, HINDUSTAN etc.) earn huge money by presenting more of foul news.
But they are serving what we like , so are we craving for all that stuff...? Well , may be...
A portion of our brain called AMYGDALA is more prone to bad news and fear , and that's why when we see a headline of a train accident and a testimonial of some " 100 year old marathon participant ", our chances of reading the former one increases automatically . <And yes , we cant deny the majority that read none>
This is a well planned business strategy adopted by these companies and we think , whole world is bad.

WHAT ABOUT TV ?
Yeah now lets come to Television , the most popular occupant of our house . There may be many of u reading this blog , who might have cried during the climax of 'KAL HO NAA HO' or the famous 'mihir aa gaya?' episode of 'kyunki saas bhi kabhi bahu thi' . Is there somebody or I am the only one who has cried........lol
Well we are all surrounded by media through-out-the day and so there are chances that sometimes we get tears even if we know , it is fake.
And then listening to 'munni badnaam hui , 10 times in a day.......with a tag 'its a good party song' eventually makes u sing 'munni ke gaal gulaabi , nain sharaabi , chaal nawaabi re'..... DABANGG , KOLAVERI DI and all that stuff......where more of a media craze is responsible for its success . Maybe that's why nowadays promotion is more important than the script.......MEDIA MATTERS.
Again the reality shows.......Splitsvilla , Bigg Boss , Roadies.......I dont know what they are trying to prove.....?
Their PEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN.......yeah , the only tone audible when a fight starts , violence , abusive language..........
I still my remember my childhood , when we could only hear those rustic slangs.....most prevalent in north specially UP , BIHAR , PUNJAB.
But now the new era has come and there is a recent addition to it.......'middle finger'.......what....?
I remember around 3-4 years back when GREG CHAPPELL has shown it to GANGULY and a controversy smoked up , I was so confused at that time, But know it has become a common gesture , for example VIRAT KOHLI
F*** ....... yeah i know although I ve "unsuccessfully" censored it.......but you all would have got that word.......right?
And not just that , it came with an increased use , like becoming a part of our culture. Now whether its frustration or fight it is used everywhere.
Why is it so.....?
Also people feel proud that they are using these type of gestures , it gives them a sense of a their "high class" society.
So I would like to mention it in PUBLIC INTEREST : 'Even if u ll not use "english" slangs , liquor , cigarette , then also you will be considered a part of high class society'.
Ironic (thanks to shakespearian play for letting me know its meaning )
EXPLORING FURTHER
Now lets see what else is common now- a -days
1) There is a tremendous increase in young lads having their "commited" girl friends inspired by films , thanks to DDLJ .
2) There is an increase in murders , planned robbery in the country ....thanks to DHOOM series for its support
etc....
what....?got more examples just mention them down in the comment box.

So are we captivated by media?
And is our mindset influenced by it? , and then increasing crime rate is that also somewhere related to media.
Well maybe
WHAT IS THE SOLUTION.....?
Yes there is a solution and its working , and the good thing is problem itself becoming one.
When the media , focus more upon the well being of people and show some real positive stuff , better and sooner will be the result.
You have already seen its effect in Anna andolan , it was such a huge success because of media and now as media is taking off its blanket , criticism from the country can also be seen .
And Baba Ramdev , struggling for 'kaala dhan' , but almost 90% people believe that he is doing this for popularity or good will of people . Imagine if media would have presented him as a HERO , your thinking would have been different.
Ha ha ha ha........amazing na......we have our mind but cant govern it fully.
So what can we really do.....
Well definitely , use your brain . Everytime some situation or news or anything comes on TV dont just believe on it and start adopting in real life , specially children . You ll have to understand that there is difference between fantasy and fact....
Dont just go after anything even if majority is following it , first think and form your opinion , then do what is right .So next time when SALMAN KHAN picture releases ask yourself is it really good or you have been flooded ..........lol
Wait....wait , what ? Do u know all these things........great.......then why are you not telling it to your younger ones .
I ve discovered some stats over internet to support my argument.
1:) Young girls are being deluged by media images of skinny models:
2:) 69% of girls in one study said that magazine models influence their idea of a perfect body shape.
3:) Studies are finding that boys, like girls, may turn to smoking to lose weight
4:)The Mediascope National Television Violence Study found that children are:
6:) Words expressing hate and disrespect toward girls and women are used frequently in popular media, and especially on TV and radio. Use of words derogatory to girls and women like "bitch," "slut," "whore," and "ho" can be heard on many TV and radio programs, especially those watched and listened to by kids, including WWF (wrestling) programs, That 70’s Show, andBoston Public, as well as on the radio.
So its proved..
Now the only obvious question which arises is
Do u like MUNNI BADNAAM hui....? han do tell me.
Hit LIKE if u liked it
THANKS.
